Mamma Bella Cucina & Pizzeria officially opened on Sunday, May 1 at 19 North Water St. in Norwalk.

Joe Giuliano and Anthony Sandolo are the co-owners.

Giuliano said opening a restaurant was always a dream of his, and he and Sandolo jumped at the opportunity to open their own place.

Giuliano said his father previously owned a restaurant, so he grew up with an understanding of the business.

The menu features classic Italian recipes that he and Sandolo learned from their grandmothers, along with many small plate options, he added.

Some dishes featured on the menu include chicken alla parmigiana, fettuccine alfredo, gnocchi bolognese, and chicken scarpariello.

The eatery also offers brunch and happy hour, serving a selection of specialty cocktails.

“It’s a very fun environment to be in," Giuliano said. "We’re trying to have something for everyone."

He said the response from guests in the first week in business has been positive.

On Sunday, May 8, the restaurant will offer a Mother's Day special, offering complimentary meals to moms between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“It’s a way to say thank you to the moms and try to show our appreciation to them for all they do for us throughout the year," Giuliano added.

The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
